Terms & Conditions
The following set out the agreement between the client and The OCD Psychologist. These terms apply from the moment you confirm your engagement with the Psychologist until services are ended by either party.
What We Offer
Assessment and Treatment
After your initial assessment, we will work together to agree a treatment plan based on the evidence for best practice and tailored to your specific needs. This plan will outline the number of sessions and review points. Review sessions allow us to monitor progress, make any adjustments to enhance outcomes, and decide whether to continue beyond the original plan.
HCPC-Registered Professionals
All our Clinical Psychologists are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and work in line with its Standards of Conduct. You can read the full code of conduct here.
Online and In-Person Sessions
To make therapy accessible wherever you are, sessions are usually held online via Microsoft Teams. If you prefer to meet in person, please let us know — we may be able to arrange this, and an additional fee may apply.
Reports and Letters
Written reports and letters are not automatically provided. If you require them, these are charged at £160.
Commitment to Treatment
Research shows therapy is most effective when sessions are held weekly, maintaining momentum and providing the most effective “dose” of treatment. We aim to keep cancellations to a minimum on both sides. If you cancel two consecutive sessions, we will discuss how to prevent further disruption. For ongoing cancellations, we may charge a holding fee to reserve your appointment slot.
Payments
Fees
- Assessment (up to 2 hours): £320
- Treatment session (50 minutes): £160
- Brief letters/reports: £160. More detailed reports will be discussed and agreed before work begins.
In some situations, liaising with other professionals (for example, your GP, social care, or school) may be important to your care. If this requires significant or regular time, additional charges may apply — these will be agreed with you beforehand.
Payment Process: Bank transfer details will be provided when you book your assessment. Full payment must be received at least 48 hours before your appointment. Please quote your invoice number as the payment reference.
Missed and Cancelled Appointments
If you miss a session or cancel with less than 48 hours’ notice, the full fee will be charged. For online sessions, if you have not joined within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time, we will attempt to contact you. If we cannot reach you, the session will be marked as missed.
Sessions Cancelled by the Psychologist
Occasionally, we may need to cancel your session at short notice (for example, due to illness). In these cases, you will not be charged, and any payment already made will either be refunded or applied to your next booking.

Confidentiality & Privacy
Confidentiality
We follow the confidentiality rules outlined by the HCPC and the Data Protection Act. Please see our Privacy Policy for full details.
Exceptions to Confidentiality
We may have to break confidentiality if we believe you are at risk of harming yourself or others, or if someone else is at risk of harming you. Where possible, we will discuss this with you first, but there may be situations where this is not possible.
Supervision
To ensure you receive the highest quality, evidence-based care, our Psychologists take part in regular supervision. During supervision, your case may be discussed anonymously unless one of the above exceptions applies. Supervisors are also bound by professional confidentiality rules.
Recording Sessions
If you would like to record your session, please request this in advance. Any recording will require mutual written agreement on how it will be used and stored. Recordings must never be shared on social media or with third parties without explicit consent.
Data Protection
In line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we are legally required to protect any personal data we hold. We take this duty seriously, ensuring your information is stored securely, anonymised where possible, and destroyed when no longer needed. For further details, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
